MATERIAL: Vitrified Porcelain China COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Unknown DESCRIPTION: For sale is a SET OF FOUR (4) vintage ROYAL SUPERIOR QUALITY advertising butter pats. These small plates are made of medium gauge restaurant ware quality vitrified porcelain china with a high gloss ivory white glaze. They decorated underglaze with an applied decal top mark featuring a laurel of two golden wheat stalks surrounding a scepter with blue flames with the word “Royal” in blue letters outlined in black. Below this, under glaze, is a blue ink stamp with the words “Superior Quality”. There are orange and black pinstripes around the rim. The company associated with this top mark logo is unknown but may have been associated with a flour brand located in Canada or the United States. These butter pats are approximately 3-1/2 inches in diameter and 1/2-inches tall. These pieces have no manufacture mark. CONDITION: These vintage pieces are in very good to excellent used condition. The glaze is bright and shiny. There are very light to moderate use marks on the glaze. On two, the use and utensil marks are moderate. An example of the moderate use marks can be seen in the last photograph. On one there is a small chip on the bottom foot, but it is underglaze and was manufactured this way. It is not easily noticed.
