Vintage Pair Porcelain Dishes Twin Tower Market Dining Rooms & Bar NYC, pre-9/11

Pair of Small Restaurant Ware Porcelain Dishes From NYC Twin Tower Plaza’s Market Dining Rooms & Bar. Steer and Fish Decoration, Made Prior to 9/11/2001. This pair of small high quality “restaurant ware” dishes were made for the Market Dining Rooms and Bar located across the broad plaza at the Twin Towers complex. These small deep plates, possibly herb & olive oil dipping dishes, feature well designed transfer decorations of a steer’s head and a wild fish and are identified on the back: MARKETPLACE DINING ROOMS & BAR. In internet searches, you can access articles, restaurant reviews, and an advertisement for the sale of these dishes at the restaurant as memorabilia. It was located in a low multi-story building which was within the World Trade Center Complex at the northeast corner of the plaza facing the Twin Towers located at the southwest corner. I couldn’t determine the exact damage this building suffered when the Twin Towers were attacked and collapsed, but presumably the structure was decimated and all the businesses there abruptly ceased operation on that fateful day. These dishes are in mint condition and are significant artifacts of the pre 9/11 Twin Towers era. Base ring shows some wear, commensurate with age and use.
